FRIENDS OF METTUPALAYAM TRUST

 

F.O.M. is a village based project supporting children and adults in a very poor rural area of Tamil Nadu in South India. Every penny donated arrives in India and, as a registered charity, F.O.M. can claim tax relief on donations. For every £1 given the charity can receive £1.28 to help the education, health and nutrition of people in real need.

Johnny Coppin

Strongly associated with the Cotswolds and the West Country. A fine singer /songwriter and musical interpreter of poetry. Some of his most notable work includes collaborations with Laurie Lee.

Cross o’th Hand

Derby based acoustic four piece play contemporary, traditional and European music. They feature ex-Rattlers Sarah Matthews and John Adams.

Julian Dawson

Singer /songwriter who should be hugely famous! Well known to Fairporters and solid European fan base. Check out the sound files on Real Audio.

Kevin Dempsey

Ex-Dando Shaft & Whippersnapper, Kev is a fine singer & guitarist and long-time collaborator with Dave Swarbrick.

Sandy Denny

Without doubt, the finest female voice of her generation. Sadly missed.

Judy Dunlop

Fine female vocalist who first came to prominence as a dancer in Feet First. The featured voice on Channel 5’s 1999 programme “Xmas Files”.

Seven Champions

Renowned Molly dance side from Kent. Unusual in that they use an unaccompanied voice to dance to, as well as the more normal music. Their style has been copied by many, but they remain the outstanding practitioners.

The best male duo on the circuit. Mighty songs and blistering musicianship.

Mike Silver

Recently featured on Radio 2. A fine singer/songwriter, highly regarded by fellow professionals. Tenderness and raw power in equal measure. “Miss him at your peril”.

Well respected singer/songwriter with some much sought after back catalogue.

The Witchmen

The finest exponents of the “Other Dance” to come out of the Border tradition. Dark, pagan & very tribal. Featured at Sidmouth in 2002 and regulars at Whittlesey Straw Bear. They are FANTASTIC.
