Another
fantastic night with Steve Knightley in concert. A capacity crowd had a wonderful
time listening to some of Steve's newer material, mixed in with a few of his
standards. Excellent stories, laced with humour and poignancy. Many thanks to
all who came and helped to make the evening go so well. Huge thanks to all who
bought raffle tickets and almost drank the bar dry. Our nominated charity, the
Yorkshire White Knight Blood Bikers will be receiving £811. Many, many thanks everyone.
Here's to the next one.

What a brilliant night with Steve Tilston, accompanied by Hugh Bradley on
double bass. Steve held a near-capacity audience enthralled for over two hours
of songs, stories and gentle humour. His playing was astonishing and his
song-writing has lost none of the beauty and lyricism over the years. Don't
miss an opportunity to see him if he's playing near you. A great treat for us
all and an excellent way to end our year. Thanks to Steve's generosity and to
donations from well-wishers, the evening raised £732 for Yorkshire Air
Ambulance. Terrific work from Wilson & Shelagh behind the bar and ace
raffle seller Tom, with his wife Bev. Special mention for the excellent sound
from Richard Hart. Onwards to '25.

What
a fantastic night we had with Show of Hands on their Full Circle Tour.
Steve
& Phil treated us to a musical journey of their thirty-plus years
on the
road together and delighted a sell-out audience. All the hits as well
as a personal request for "Safe As Houses"! Brilliant atmosphere, both
celebratory and poignant, and an evening never to be forgotten by those
who
were there. The added bonus was raising a total of £1000 for Teenage
Cancer
Trust, thanks to some generous donations, as well as the raffle, bar
and ticket sales. Thank you one and all.

Absolutely
fabulous sell-out evening with Track Dogs on November 11th. The concert began
with Howard Brown playing The Last Post in honour of the fallen in all
conflicts. After that the chaps gave us a rousing set and provided one of the
liveliest gigs we've had. Great audience reaction and good to connect with some
new customers. An evening of true joy and laughter. The £560 profit on the gig has been sent to Herriot Hospice
Homecare. Many thanks to all who supported the gig or donated towards the
charity. There are lots of photos from the gig on the Friends Who Like Track
Dogs Facebook page, as well as some great video from guest musician Fergal
Gara.

What a fantastic night with the Sandy Denny Project on May 13th. The band were at full throttle and we were treated to some fabulous interpretations of Sandy's material, including a full rock workout of Matty Groves and a Eurovision style Winter Winds. Sally Barker, Marion Fleetwood and Gemma Shirley provided vocals that soared into the room, whilst PJ Wright, Mat Davies and Mark Stevens laid down rock solid instrumentation. Sublime vocals and terrific players. The audience loved every minute and it was great to hear so many positive comments. A big thank you to all who made it a full house. A wonderful atmosphere and a terrific result for Yorkshire Air Ambulance; £560 is heading their way.
March 2023A wonderful night with The Jigantics on March 18th. Their third visit and they did not disappoint. Exquisite vocals from Sarah Kelly and fantastic contributions from the chaps. Cajun, Americana, Blues and ballads all delivered with consummate ease. Great audience participation and a real feel-good atmosphere. A big thank you to everyone who turned up and contributed to a memorable evening. Our chosen charity, The Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, benefited to the tune of £440.

A fantastic night with Chris Leslie on Saturday. A sell-out audience was treated to almost two hours of breathtaking musicianship accompanied by gentle humour and genuine warmth. Chris thoroughly enjoyed the great atmosphere and loved the venue. Special mention for our sound engineer, Richard Hart, who created the perfect soundscape for Chris's show.
Having used the Village Institute for our gigs for the last 12 years it seemed only fair to contribute, for the first time, to some of the improvements they are planning. Their puchase of a staging kit has been a big help to us, so it was nice to give something in return. We managed to raise £669.20 towards their costs.

We had a wonderful night
with Phil Beer on March 26th. The audience, slightly depleted by Covid and
other problems, was treated to a musical journey and master class in
musicianship, spanning six decades, all stitched together by Phil's warm
anecdotes and charming humour. It was a fabulous night all round and a fitting
way to end Phil's last, full solo tour.
I
would especially like to
extend my thanks to all those who bought tickets but couldn't make it,
because
they all willingly contributed their cash to a worthy cause. We raised
over
£670 thanks to some substantial donations and our local vicar who
turned out to
be a whizz at raffle selling. The Village Institute Treasurer and
Secretary
have kindly topped up the amount from their funds and a concert regular
who couldn't make the gig also contributed, so we'll be sending
£1000 to

We had a fantastic night

the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

A big thank you to all who came and supported the Gerry Colvin Band concert on Saturday 10th November. It
was a fantastic night with Gerry and his merry band of musos, Jerome Davis,
Trish Power and Lyndon Webb. After a bit of a lay off you couldn't have wanted
a more bonkers evening of entertainment and sheer quality. People who had never
seen him before were astonished that they'd never heard of him or his
songwriting. Good to see some new faces and welcome back some of the regulars.
Thanks as always to the team and Terri. Thanks to you all, we raised over £500
for the local primary schools

A fantastic night with the Luke Jackson Trio. Their second set, particularly, was one blistering number after another. I can only thank them for making a round trip from Kent and recommend that you go and see them as soon as you can. You will be blown away! As an added bonus the gig made £333.50p for Yorkshire Cancer Research. A big thank you to all who came along and contributed to the evening.
March 2017
A huge thank you to all who came along to the Broom Bezzums gig .
It was a fantastic evening with the added surprise of an opening set
from Katie Doherty, who blew the audience away with her singing. Mark
and Andrew played up a storm with material from the new album and some
old favourites. It's great when the audience goes away smiling and the
musicians are so complimentary about the gig and the audience; it really
makes it worthwhile. Our local playing fields' association will be
£606.60p better off as a result. Don't ask me where the 60p came from! Tickets
for Luke Jackson's Trio will be available from 13th March.

Huge thanks to Peter, Roger, Vincent and Deborah for their efforts on the night and for their kind words. As always, many thanks to Askrigg School for the loan of their stage and to the merry band of volunteers who pitch in and make it work. The concert raised £722 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Helen Callear, the Regional Fundraising Manager dropped by to pick up the cheque.
